01_The Manifesto

Born in Portugal, finished high school, skipped everything else. Started working at an accounting firm in the 1980s, became a journalist at Nova Gente in 1990, and somewhere between deadlines taught myself to code. In 1994, discovered the internet — and a year later on IRC channel called #Brasil on the Undernet, met Le. In 1996, packed up and moved to Dallas, Texas.

On October 31, 1996, we launched RogerLe.com - a web hosting company that's still running 30 years later. I worked my way through Texas Instruments, Intervoice, FedEx, Cisco, RIM, and the Federal Reserve, all self-taught, all earned. In 2020, we came back to Portugal. In 2024, bought a Benimar motorhome and hit the road across Europe with Jolie, a toy poodle who has visited 24 countries and firmly believes she's in charge. The servers run from wherever we park.
